Route 66 brought many motor couts, restaurants and filling stations. Tower Station and the U-Drop Inn, completed in 1936, is a beautiful remaining example. Designed in the art-deco style, it was reported to be "the swankiest of swank eating places" and their slogan was "Delicious Food Courteously Served". It has been beautifully restored and is where the Chamber of Commerce is located. Unfortunatley, the diner has long since been closed for dining, but you can go in and sit awhile because the diner has also been restored... who knows, perhaps you will find it a portal to the past.
